Who is behind adapt or die?

Steven King

Steven is an Eagle Scout, lifelong learner, and dedicated servant-leader whose passion for training, adventure, and people is deeply rooted in his love for Christ, his study of history, and his service to his country.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Studies with a second major in History, and has devoted his life to developing leaders and equipping others through both academic study and real-world experience.

Steven enlisted in the Ohio Army National Guard as an Infantryman and later commissioned as an officer. He completed the Infantry Basic Officer Course and continues to serve faithfully in an Infantry Battalion. His training includes land navigation courses; platoon, squad, and team live-fire exercises; and qualification ranges for the M4, M9, M2, and MK19 weapon systems, among numerous other training events. Most recently, he deployed to the Middle East, where he was entrusted with overseeing base defense operations for his battalion.

In 2025, Steven joined a mission trip to Ecuador with TACTICA, where he helped train Federal Law Enforcement Officers while sharing the Gospel of Christ. That same year, he backpacked more than 96 miles along the West Highland Way in Scotland, a continuation of his lifelong passion for the outdoors. Over the years, Steven has hiked and backpacked hundreds of miles across the East Coast, the Rocky Mountains, the Appalachian Mountains, the Southwestern United States, and beyond—each journey strengthening his endurance, testing his resolve, and deepening his appreciation for God’s creation.

Through every experience, Steven has learned the importance of remaining a student—always growing, always listening, and always learning from God, others, and the world around him. Teaching and mentoring are central to his calling; through them, he continues to develop a deeper understanding of leadership, faith, and personal growth.

As he continues to guide and equip others through the Adapt or Die Family, Steven believes that through faith, perseverance, and disciplined training, we can become the leaders our families and communities deserve. Without the love and grace of Jesus Christ, none of this would have been possible. Steven believes that through faith, Christ saves us from the consequences of our own sin. In Christ alone, his hope is found.

“When the going gets tough, we do not quit. WE DRIVE ON!”
— Steven King
